Genital Warts Prevention in Singapore: Genital warts are skin growths present on the genitals and anus. They are caused by human papillomavirus infection, which is spread via sexual contact.
Prevention of genital warts
In Singapore, genital warts and other HPV-related diseases can be prevented by getting an HPV vaccine. These are available widely throughout the country. The vaccine protects against the strains of HPV that cause cervical cancer, and one type of the vaccine also protects against strains of HPV that cause genital warts.
To prevent genital warts, you should:
Avoid skin-to-skin contact with someone who has warts
Abstain from sexual intercourse. If you do have sex, make sure to use a condom every time. Although condoms reduce the risk of genital warts, condoms are not 100% reliable in preventing the risk of genital warts infection, because the condom may not cover all of the warts.
Stop smoking.
Limit the number of sexual partners, or choose a mutually monogamous sexual relationship.
Avoid having sex with any sex partner who performs high-risk sexual activities.
